"The Upton family (Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton) has adopted a baby girl," the representative told US Weekly. The baby is named Edith Vivian Patricia Upton.

The Australian actress is presently promoting her current film, "Cinderella," and is reportedly excited that her kids are also interested in it. "I don't force them on a Saturday night to sit home and watch mummy's movies, wire coat-hanger in hand," said the actress during an interview. "But they'll see this one for sure."

Blanchett plays the role of impeccably groomed and conniving Lady Tremaine, who obstructs Cinderella, played by Lily James, in becoming a princess.

The Upton family had lived in England before settling in Australia. Blanchett is a patron of Australian Film Insitute and Sydney Film Festival. Blanchett married Upton in 1997. The couple has three sons, namely Dashiell,13, Roman,10, and Ignatius, seven. The actress is known as a proactive mother, despite her busy filming schedule and her theatrical involvements.
