Speculations are rife that the new Samsung Galaxy S8 may not be launched during the first quarter of 2017 as initially expected. With the huge debacle coming from the Galaxy Note 7's battery issues, it appears that the South Korean company has set up stricter guidelines while incorporating several innovations for its upcoming smartphone.

One of the enhancements includes a new all-screen smartphone with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. A source told Bloomberg that the Galaxy S8 will feature a wrap-around OLED screen similar to Samsung's Edge series.

It appears that the South Korean tech firm is looking to remove its upcoming Galaxy S8 line with S8 Edge variants. Apart from the wrap-around screens, Samsung is also set to replace the Galaxy S8's physical home button with a virtual version located beneath the glass screen's lower section.

Given the latest development changes, Samsung's initial target to release the Galaxy S8 in March 2017 will be pushed back to April 2017, according to the said source. The company's decision to put in tougher testing guidelines and activities to ensure product safety also contributed to the delay.

With the huge profit loss that Samsung experienced given the Galaxy Note 7's battery issues, it appears that the company is looking to balance product innovation and ensuring the consumer's safety. However, product safety will remain a key component given the Note 7's record of exploding and burning up.

Meanwhile, latest speculations hinted of the Galaxy S8 having a thinner body with the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung is set to adapt Apple's idea to remove the standard headphone jack and use a USB Type-C port instead, according to SamMobile.

Samsung's Galaxy S8 is expected to be unveiled in February 2017 during the Mobile World Congress. Learn more about the said smartphone in the clip below:
