The San Francisco 49ers are expected to undergo a major revamp which could start with general manager Trent Baalke and head coach Chip Kelly. Mike Shanahan is reportedly hopping on board soon, the first of many moves expected to be done by the York family.

At 1-12, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to undergo a major revamp in the offseason. Trent Baalke could be on the brink of getting fired though the fate of Chip Kelly remains to be seen, the NY Post reported.

Baalke had his issues with previous coach Jimmy Harbaugh though the 49ers performance went from bad to worse. Chip Kelly did make a name for himself in the college ranks but stepping into an unstable ballclub was seen to be a death wish.

That said, Baalke is likely to be given his walking papers soon with Shanahan possibly taking over. But does this mean that Kelly will now report to the 64-year-old former coach?

This is perhaps the part that becomes tricky. Kelly has only handled the team for a year so it seems hard to pass judgment on 53-year-old coach. Hence, a logical scenario would see Shanahan and Kelly joining heads to try and turn things around for the embattled 49ers next season.

Denise and John York are expected to take a larger role managing the 49ers next season and Shanahan seems to be the man they want to turn things around, Yardbarker reported. The Yorks and Shanahan have already spoken in the past and the only thing that isn’t clear is the veteran NFL coach’s capacity.

Cutting to the chase, the only one in danger from all of this is Baalke. He did take full blame of the 49ers poor showing in 2015 and all this seems to have extended to the current season.

With Shanahan at the helm, there is that possibility that Kelly could be parting San Francisco as well. An established name in the college ranks, Kelly could end up returning to coaching college football or maybe move to another team.

The Los Angeles Rams could be a potential destination following the recent firing of Jeff Fisher. From the looks of it, Kelly has a lot of options on the table. Check out the video covering Kelly’s decision to join the San Francisco 49ers below.
