The Cleveland Browns are going through the motions of finishing this season, hoping to get back on track next season starting with the 2017 NFL Draft. The Browns could end up with two first-rounders, depending on how the Philadelphia Eagles end the current season.

For those unaware, the Browns own the rights to the Eagles’ first-round pick as well as a third-round selection which were part of the Carson Wentz deal. If the Eagles continue to spiral this season, there is a looming possibility that the Browns could end up with a couple of quality players to ramp their roster, ESPN reported.

Looking ahead, things aren’t looking pretty for the Eagles. They will be facing the New York Giants and the Dallas Cowboys, teams that could further push them down the standings.

Should that happen, the Browns could end up getting two of the top five or six picks in the 2017 NFL Draft. If so, the Browns could go after a quarterback and a defensive player to improve their chances next season. Two names have been mentioned – Texas A&M quarterback Myles Garrett and Alabama Crimson Tide’s Jonathan Allen.

Aside from Garrett and Allen, there are other names in the mix. That includes DeShone Kizer or Mitch Trubisky. Both are quarterbacks, something that the Browns have been struggling with this season.

However, the Browns may want to look at other departments like their defensive crew. Allen could be a wise choice, a two-gap lineman who could step up into the 3-4.

Has the NFL Draft happened today, Garrett and Allen would have been hands-down choices for Sashi Brown. The Eagles dropped a heartbreaking 27-26 decision to the Baltimore Ravens, further sending them downward the standings with a 5-9 win-loss record, NFL.com reported.

Until the season ends, the Browns have other things on their mind. That includes registering a win to avoid joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as teams who have failed to register a win during an NFL season. Head coach Hue Jackson’s fate is also undetermined for now with the big NFL moves expected to commence in the offseason.
