The Steam Winter Sale 2016 is now live and holiday shoppers can get up to 90 percent discount on PC games. The company's last big sale for the year runs until just after New Year, so now is the time to grab those popular and indie games, either for oneself or for friends.

The games on sale, as posted on the Steam website, include "The Division $24.99 (50 percent discount), the "Civilization" franchise (from 10 to 92 percent discount), the "Doom" franchise (40 to 67 percent discount), and "Total War" games (25 to 75 percent discount), the posted.

The digital distribution company is also offering discounts on its controller and accessories. The Stream Controller is being offered at 37 percent discount and is now priced at $34.99, down from $49.99. Its skins are also available for $6.99 a piece, from $9.99, and the options include Aperture, CSGO Blue/Orange, CSGO Grey Camo and CSGO Blue Camo colors. The battery door and wireless receiver for the controller are also on sale.

The Steam Link is just $19.99, which $30 less than the original price of $49.99. Bundles such as the Steam Controller and Link Bundle and the Steam Controller and Case and Accessories Bundle are also offered with up to 51 percent savings.

Additionally, the voting process for the 2016 Steam Awards has officially started. It offers gamers the chance to cast their votes for different game categories each day until Dec. 29.  Winners will be announced on New Year's Eve. 

The first category is dubbed as "The Villain Most in Need of a Hug Award" and the nominees are "Borderlands 2," "Dead by Daylight," "Far Cry 3," "Far Cry 4," and "Portal 2," WCCFTech reported.

On Dec. 23, it will be "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award." The finalists are "Euro Truck Simulator 2," "Paladins," "Starbound," "Stardew Valley," and "Unturned."

On Dec. 24, gamers will have to choose "Age of Empires II HD," "Sid Meier's Civilization V," "Team Fortress 2," "Terraria" or "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim." These games are vying for the "Test of Time" awards.

Last but not the least is the "Just 5 More Minutes" award. Voting takes place on Dec. 25 and the nominees are "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive," "Fallout 4," "Rocket League," "Sid Meier's Civilization VI" and "Terraria."

The Steam Winter Sale 2016 was launched on Dec. 22 and will end on Jan. 2 at 9:30 a.m. PT.
