"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 is ending soon, but at least one character will first make the cut. During a recent interview with TV Line, executive producer Julie Plec confirmed that Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino) is not the last character to be killed off in the hit The CW series.

Unfortunately, Plec did not want to give out major spoilers so she purposely did not name names. But when pressed to make comments, the exec said that the mysterious character's death will be terrible and painful. Immediately after, fans started speculating on who could be killed off. It is also believed that Alaric (Matt Davis) is the only one of the few who will survive.

Here are four characters that may die before "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 ends.

Caroline Forbes

What better way to make "The Vampire Diaries" memorable than by killing off a fan favorite. Caroline (Candice Accola-King) has experienced so many losses throughout the eight seasons of the hit The CW series so it could be time to also see her go.

Matt Donovan

Matt (Zach Roerig) has also suffered through a lot throughout the previous seasons, but he has managed to always make it out alive. He has also lost contact with friends and even fell in and out of love several times, but he has still maintained a positive outlook. This time around, Matt can be killed off without any explanation or remorse.

Enzo

Michael Malarkey's Enzo just joined the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" in the latter seasons so killing him will not be as impactful as killing the other characters. This makes him a good choice for another character death because as a villain, not a lot of fans will miss him.

Bonnie Bennett

Kat Graham was the first to announce her departure from "The Vampire Diaries" even before the series was renewed for Season 8. During her interview with US Weekly, the actress said that major storylines are in store for her character. What could be more major than Bonnie's death?

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 will return to The CW on Jan. 13 at 8 p.m. EST.
