Known for its intensity and violence, the premiere episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 7 titled "The Day Will Come You Won't Be" was one of the most anticipated episodes of the zombie apocalypse series yet. On Jan. 9, a video featuring the making of the one-hour episode was released, offering a first look at some behind-the-scene footage of the episode.

"The Walking Dead" Season 7, episode 1 featured the deaths of two major characters, Abraham and Glenn. The episode had to show so much horrific violence and required considerable stunt work that the entire visual effects team behind the series had to go the extra mile to make everything look realistic. Executive producer Greg Nicotero reportedly called on the entire cast and crew behind the series to create the episode.

The video released by Comicbook takes "The Walking Dead" fans behind the scenes and inside the episode itself, with some members of the cast and crew sharing some details about the making of the most unforgettable hour in the history of the series.

According to Rick portrayer Andrew Lincoln, everything they had learned and lived through was reinvented in Season 7, episode 1. Nicotero went on to add, "Negan continually senses that Rick might not be onboard with his way of life. Rick isn't gonna back down."

One of the most controversial elements of the episode was when Negan chose to keep Rick alive. It can be recalled that instead of killing him, who apparently was the biggest threat to his life and the members of the Saviors group, he decided to break him down and make an example out of him.

Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan said that while most fans probably thought that killing Abraham and Glenn would have already done it, it would have not. This was affirmed by executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, who described Negan as someone who loves breaking people. Morgan explained that Negan's decision proved that he was thinking a couple steps ahead.

Meanwhile, Lincoln recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that viewers would see a lot more levity than they had ever seen in Rick when the series returns next month. He said that after losing almost everything, he will finally have the thrill to fight again.

"The Walking Dead" Season 7 returns on Feb. 12 on AMC. Watch the behind-the-scenes footage of Season 7, episode 1 here:
