"Goblin: The Lonely and Great God" bumped off its 14th episode to accommodate an interim focused on the backstories of some of the characters.

When the hit Korean drama returns on Jan. 20, back to back episodes will be released by the tvN network. Episodes 14, 15 and 16 are rumored to focus on Kim Shin and Eun Tak's relationship, among many other things.

On Saturday, Jan. 14, the special episode already dealt with the relationships of the characters, as well as the complexities that they face. Prior to the episode, tvN released a statement saying that they felt the need to release a special installment of "Goblin" so that the fans can better understand and enjoy the series.

"In order for viewers to be as comfortable as possible, we have decided to air a special episode on Jan. 14 which will provide insight into the characters' intertwined fates, as well as the direction of the remaining episodes," the statement read.

Meanwhile, the 13th episode of "Goblin" will be directly connected to episodes 14, 15 and 16. New revelations are expected to be unveiled, and new mysteries will also be surrounding the characters.

Kim Shin and Eun Tak's relationship and connection was already explained in the interim episode, but it will continue to be explored in the upcoming installments. After all, a lot of fans had negative reactions with the pairing.

A productive representative from "Goblin" told Soompi, "Because this drama is of a genre that is different from anything we have ever done before, we were very pressed for time with all the high-difficulty filming, CGI and post production. In order to deliver the highest quality product to viewers, we will do our best for the remaining episodes."

In other news, fans of "Goblin" still have mixed reactions over the interim episode, as well as the back to back installments airing on Jan. 20 and 21. On Soompi's site, some fans are urging the writers and creators of "Goblin" to take their time to come up with a satisfying ending. Other fans are already dying to know what will happen to their favorite characters.
