A seven month old baby girl died immediately after her throat got cut by a power saw in Chicago, Illinois. Manuela Rodriguez, 52, the baby's grandmother was charged with first degree murder due to the baby's death.

Law enforcements explained that Rodriguez used the power saw to cut the baby's throat because she would not stop from crying.  The old woman tried to kill herself after doing the crime which did not happen since she was found by another relative before ending her life.

Rodriguez suffered minor self-inflicted injuries the police explained to CNN.  She was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in a stable condition and she will be appearing to a bond court this Wednesday.

The little baby was Rosie Herrera. According to the authorities, Rodriguez first tried to put something down the baby's throat to make her stop crying then eventually used the power saw to cut her throat.

The cause of Herrera's death was confirmed by the Cook County Medical Examiner on Tuesday to be blunt force injuries to the baby's head and suffocation from a sock stuffed inside the throat. The incident was concluded as a homicide.

Law enforcement were called to this multi-family home at 2800 block of South Avers Avenue in the Little Village section of Chicago around 9:40 AM where they found the lifeless body of the baby with visible trauma, Mail Online reported.

The infant was declared dead on the scene of the crime. Neighbors tell the police that the family are good people and they have been helping each other.

"I can't believe this," Raul Chavez, a neighbor, said "I knew them. I knew them real good. I knew them because we would help out each other," he added.
