Kevin Owens successfully defended the WWE Universal championship at the Royal Rumble against Roman Reigns. However, it seems like Owens' reign as champion will end at Fastlane on March 5 at the hands of Bill Goldberg.

As recapped by WWE.com, Owens was about to lose the Universal title to Reigns when Braun Strowman showed up. The "Monster Among Men" attacked Reigns to help KO retain his championship. He chokeslammed Reigns on the announce table before hitting a running powerslam on another table inside the ring.

The next night on Raw, Owens defended his title against Strowman but it ended in a DQ due to Reigns. "The Guy" hit the spear on both Strowman and Owens. It looks like Reigns vs. Strowman could happen at Fastlane.

However, the WWE Universal championship picture is in shambles at the moment. Owens still has a bone to pick with Reigns, and now Strowman. However, the WWE is planning something bigger for KO and he could face Goldberg at Fastlane.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer (subscription required), the WWE is planning to give Goldberg a run with the WWE Universal championship. He is expected to beat Owens for the title and head to WrestleMania 33 as champion.

Goldberg will likely face Brock Lesnar, who already issued a challenge this past Monday on Raw. There were rumors earlier this year that the WWE is looking at Goldberg vs. Lesnar III as the main event of WrestleMania 33.

The fear of many wrestling fans seems to be happening as two part-timers will headline the biggest show of the year. As for other plans for WrestleMania 33, Owens is still expected to face Chris Jericho and it could be for the United States championship.

Reigns, on the other hand, is penciled to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33. "The Big Dog" eliminated The Undertaker at the Royal Rumble and "The Deadman" will surely want his revenge against Reigns.

Nevertheless, these are just rumors at the moment and plans could still change heading into Fastlane. The WWE will be more silent about possible plans leaking online months before WrestleMania 33. Check out the video below to watch Lesnar challenge Goldberg to a match at WrestleMania 33.
