Roof jump and aerial acrobatics

After starting the Super Bowl 51 halftime show with a mash-up of the patriotic songs "God Bless America" and "This Land is Your Land," the multi-awarded singer brazenly jumped from the NRG stadium roof. Gaga even did a Spiderman-like crawl as she was lowered to a steel structure at the side of the stage.

With two suspension cables attached to the singer's well-camouflaged safety belt, Gaga performed impressive aerial dance moves to the tune of "Poker Face." Soaring above the stage, the "American Horror Story: Hotel" star even did an acrobatic flip as she was brought down to the football arena for an energetic performance of "Born this Way."

'Feel good' message and light political tone

Despite speculations that the singer might bash President Donald Trump during her Super Bowl 51 halftime show, Gaga kept her performance lively and mostly political-free. Apart from citing a line from the Pledge of Allegiance that called for liberty and justice, the songstress avoided mentioning the U.S. President's name.

Gaga instead focused on giving an amazing performance in the hope that it will help viewers feel better despite the country's political turmoil. She stated during the show, "We're here to make you feel good."

Meanwhile, Gaga shared in an earlier press conference that her Super Bowl performance will include a message of love, compassion, kindness, equality and inclusion, Entertainment Weekly quoted the singer as saying. She added, "The only statements that I'll be making during the halftime show are the ones that I've been consistently making throughout my career."

Mic drop and ball toss

Gaga ended her powerful performance with a classic "drop-mic" move that was met with loud cheers from the audience. After the mic drop, she then caught a silver football thrown her way and jumped down from the stage.

Costumes galore

Gaga changed her on-stage look several times during the Super Bowl 51 show beginning with a long-sleeved silver designer piece, wearing a gold metallic top and the singer's own take at the classic football jersey. Veteran fashion stylist Cameron Silver told Billboard that he found the songstress' final look intriguing. He explained, "She played with the iconography of a football jersey and Gaga-fied it."
