Will Turner will return in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales," and the latest trailer for the upcoming film reveals that he has changed quite a bit since "At World's End" in 2007. Disney unveiled the newest Super Bowl trailer on Feb.6, offering a first look at Orlando Bloom's character.
It can be recalled that the character was last seen in 2007's "At World's End." Since he did not appear in 2011's "On Stranger Tides," many "Pirates of the Caribbean" fans are looking forward to his return.
While the recent trailer confirms that the character will be back in the upcoming sequel, fans have yet to know how small or large his role will be. Following the unveiling of the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" trailer, some Twitter users posted screencaps from the clip, showing the return of Will.
Orlando Bloom hinted in an interview back in 2014 that his character might return to the franchise after taking over Davy Jones in the 2007 film, The Independent reported. Actor Brenton Thwaites also previously said in a separate interview that this year's film would focus on the son of Davy, which he would play in "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
According to Movie Web, Disney did not include Orlando Bloom in the full cast list of the new sequel, but the final events in "At World's End" somewhat hinted that Will would return at some point in the future. In the finale of the 2007 film, the character was committed to become the new captain of the Flying Dutchman and take on the duty for 10 years. Since the film was shown in 2007 and the new "Pirates of the Caribbean" film will be released 10 years later this 2017, fans speculate that Will's tour as Davy Jones would finally end in "Dead Men Tell No Tales."
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that Johnny Depp would return as Jack Sparrow. In the upcoming film, his survival will depend on the legendary Trident of Poseidon, which he cannot find unless he forges an alliance with the beautiful astronomer, Carina Smyth, and the young Royal Navy sailor, Henry.
