"The Flash" Season 3 has shown several speedster heroes with Barry (Grant Gustin) training Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale), also known as the Kid Flash, to master his abilities. However, the newbie metahuman still has a long way before he can become a better superhero than his mentor.

Recent episodes of "The Flash" Season 3 featured Barry's efforts to teach Wally about his speedster powers. Given Iris' (Candice Patton) impending death, the scarlet speedster even delegated some of the dangerous tasks to the Kid Flash to help change the future.

In "The Flash" Season 3 episode 12, Wally finally learned how to phase through solid objects after a villainous metahuman threatened the lives of his father and sister. Titled "Untouchable," the Kid Flash also played an important role in stopping the said villain.

Despite Wally learning more about his abilities and gaining experience on how to handle dangerous opponents, the Kid Flash's penchant for speed, as well as his cockiness, might hinder the said character's development. Showrunner Aaron Helbing told E! News that Wally will need to learn how to slow down to take stock of the situation.

Helbing stated, "[Wally's] used to being the best, when he was a drag racer, and so he's always going to push himself to be the best ... What he has to realize, and what Barry will teach him, is that to be the fastest man alive, sometimes you actually have to just slow down and get your bearings and that will help you become a better Flash."

Meanwhile, being tasked to save Iris will also affect Wally's confidence in his abilities as Kid Flash. In an interview with Variety, Lonsdale commented that although Barry's mentee believes that he can save his sister, the situation will also make him more vulnerable.

The actor also teased of how Wally will start to feel the weight of his responsibility to keep Iris alive in upcoming episodes. The gravity of the said situation and the possibility that they may not be able to change Iris' fate will "catch up with him" over time, according to Lonsdale.

"The Flash" Season 3 will release episode 13 on Feb. 21 on the CW. Watch a teaser clip for upcoming episode below:
