Super Bowl LI did not just see Tom Brady solidify himself as the greatest of all time by winning his fifth National Football League title, it also saw the greatest comeback in the league and sports itself after the New England Patriots came back from a 25-point hole to beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime. Players from the National Basketball Association were just amazed as ordinary people.
LeBron James, who had to climb back from a 1-3 deficit against the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals, knows what the Patriots had gone through. Immediately after the game, 'The King' tweeted "Brady=GOAT. CONGRATS brother!!"
Los Angeles Lakers legend and five time NBA champion Kobe Bryant took a slight jab at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, tweeting "5 rings can't be deflated #Brady #Muse." In the last decade, Bryant, Brady and San Antonio Spurs' Tim Duncan are the only players to win five championship with a single franchise among the four major American leagues.
Another Boston star in Isaiah Thomas showed his love to one of the greatest Boston legends. The All-Star starter tweeted "Tom Brady best ever!!!" Brady returned the favor, telling Thomas that it is his turn to make Boston proud, Fox Sports reported.
Washington Wizards' center Marcin Gortat took a different route, telling people how Brady is the luckiest man on Earth by going home to Brazilian model Gisele Bundchen after winning the Super Bowl. Philadelphia 76ers rookie Joel Embiid proved he is the king of Twitter by implying that the Atlanta Falcons were maybe tanking.
Speaking of Bundchen, Brady bared that his wife asked him to retire following the Super Bowl victory, ABC News reported. However, he could not grant his wife's wish, saying that he still knows he can compete and he does not see himself being away from the sport soon. Brady is already 39 years old but critics say the Patriots are still the favorite for the title next season.
