Speculations are rife that the much-delayed book "Winds of Winter" may not be released in 2017. Author George R. R. Martin will turn 70 years old on Sept. 20, 2018 and to mark the historic occasion, the book "Winds of Winter" may be released.

Earlier in the year, Martin had revealed on his blog Not a Journal that, he has not finished writing the book. He also added that he hoped that the book may release this year. Martin also added that he was hopeful about the book's release in 2017 but he also clarified that he had aspired for the same last year as well.

Hence, there are conflicting reports on when the actual release of the book will take place but Martin did confirm that he is planning not to release any more sample chapters of the book, according to the same blog. This may be because he is near to finishing the book and does not want to give up any spoilers about the plotline and the actual story.

The first book in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" was "A Game of Thrones" and it was released in 1996. It was quickly followed by "A Clash of Kings" in 1998 and "A Storm of Swords" in 2000.

"A Feast for Crows" is the fourth book in the series and it was also delayed by five years, to eventually release in 2005. It was followed by "A Dance with Dragons," which took six years to release in 2011. Since then the anxious readers are waiting desperately for the sequel of "A Dance of Dragons" to release.

Meanwhile, "Winds of Winter" spoilers indicate that the book may feature Cersei's death and the power may shift to the Queen of the North - Sansa Stark. The Mother of Dragons will also have a pivotal role in the book and may also cause the downfall of Westeros due to her mad genes.

Tyrion Lannister may propose marriage to the Mother of Dragons as he is bespotted with her. Some other key characters of the series are expected to die in the battle for Westeros.
