There are a lot of online chatting apps which are available in the market today and even though Facebook owns the chat giant WhatsApp, its own flagship messenger app, the Facebook messenger faces immense competition and challenges from the other chatting apps like Viber, WeChat, etc.

One of the many new changes that the users will get to see on the FB messenger is the introduction of third party app support. After all the changes have been infused together, the users will be able to make their online payments via the FB messenger app. In order to make the process of payment safe and secure, Facebook has also hired David Marcus, who used to be the President in PayPal, now leading the messenger department at Facebook.

The peer-to-peer money transfer service has already been kick started for the internal Facebook employees to check how it will work when it is rolled out to the common people. The service will be seeing its premier in US, and then will trickle down to the rest of the user across the world.

It might be perceived like Facebook is copying these payment services from the Chinese chat apps like Line and WeChat, but the fact that it will make their flagship messenger more popular and of more utility is undeniable, as per reports by FirstPost.

More than 500 million users use this app currently and this figure is expected to double up if these services are integrated into the existing app.
