Super Mario 64 is one of the most iconic video games ever created since the 90s. Now, a student remade the console title to be playable on PCs using Unity.
Erik Roystan Ross, who is studying computer science, used the free game developing software to recreate Mario in HD glory on the game's very first level-the Bomb-omb Battlefield.
Fans can play the Mario game for free even on a browser using the free Unity Web Player, according to Game Spot.
UPDATE: Nintendo finally filed a complaint to Cloudare, the hosting provider, and the Mario browser game is now unavailable.
Ross amazingly recreated almost every detail ranging from Mario's character model to the vividly green surrounding, but he still made some changes.
"Everything is just as you remember, except some really minor stuff that nobody cared about like red coins or the Wing Cap or the Big Bob-omb," said Ross.
Players can enjoy the Mario game using a mouse and a keyboard. PlayStation and Xbox controllers are also supported.
However, Ross only created the first level of the video game. He said that he has no plans in remaking other levels and will only fix the Mario game's major bugs.
The game can be enjoyed for free, but Ross said that selling it is prohibited and that code library licenses are still in effect.
Windows, Mac and even Linux users will be able to play the Mario game by downloading it on Ross' website.
Nintendo's complaint, filed by the Japanese company's attorney Alicia Bell, led to Ross taking down the web player. However, the Mario game can still be downloaded from his other sites.
