"Royals" hitmaker Lorde has once again cracked it. The New Zealand singer and songwriter has been nominated in two categories for the Billboard Music Awards.

The 18-year-old teenage prodigy has been nominated for top rock artist and top rock album for "Pure Heroine" this year, announced Billboard. Last year also, the artist was  nominated in two categories and took home the award for top rock song for her hit debut single "Royals," which was an international crossover hit. The Grammy award winner was also named as the top new artist at last year's Billboard music awards.

Lorde will be competing against AC/DC, The Black Keys, Coldplay and Hozier for the award of best rock album. In the top rock artist category, she will be facing heat with Bastille, Coldplay, Hozier and Fall Out Boy, Daily Mail reported.

"omg bbma noms are so unexpected twice in a row!!! thanks you guys," tweeted the star to express her excitement after the announcement of nominations.

Lorde released her debut single "Royals" in 2013 shortly followed by a debut studio album "Pure Heroine," which included hit singles like "Tennis Court," "Team" and "No Better." The popularity of her debut made Lorde the youngest solo artist to achieve a US number-one single since 1987.

Lorde has established herself as a reputed musician in quite a short span of time by creating several records. She is among the very few artists in the world to be awarded two Grammy awards in a year for a debut single track. Her debut "Royals" sat on the top slot of U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for nine consecutive weeks after its release.

The self identified feminist's real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor. Lorde is reportedly just a stage name which she adapted due to her fascination towards aristocracy. TIME had announced her as one of the most influential teenagers in the world in 2013.
