Previously, Marvel revealed that the two-part film "Avengers: Infinity War" parts I and II are to be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. Now, it was confirmed that the longest installment of the "Avengers" franchise will be penned by scriptwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFreely.
Markus and McFreely are set to scribe the screenplay for Marvel's longest film for its "Avengers" franchise, as per Badass Digest. They were the men behind hit films such as "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," and "Thor: The Dark World." The writers have worked with the Russo's in "The Winter Soldier," which stood at the fourth spot in the box office last year. Since its release on Apr. 4 last year, "The Winter Soldier" has made an estimated worldwide gross of $714 million, indicating its success.
Now, the Russos, Markus, and McFreely has "Captain America: Civil War" and "Avengers: Infinity War" on their hands, it is an indication that it will be more efficient for them to connect the plot events of the films while injecting elements from "The Winter Soldier."
Meanwhile, Joss Whedon explained why he will not direct "Infinity War." He said that every movie he has made has been "an ensemble piece of increasingly enormous proportions," indicating that the franchise has grown bigger, Entertainment Weekly reported.
Whedon added that those proportions are to get larger with "Infinity War." Moreover, the director said that he will not to be able to provide it what he would need to.
Marvel's "Avengers: Infinity War - Part I" is set to be released on May 4, 2018 while "Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2" is slated to premiere on May 3, 2019.
