The United States version of the first and second generations of Moto X is bound to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update soon.

After Google officially rolled out the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update, it immediately sparked the rumor mill as to when the new firmware will land in Android-based smartphones from various mobile manufacturers, including Motorola. After manufacturers confirmed that a particular device will support a new firmware, carriers are also hard at work in tweaking the OS to roll out its new version.

Motorola spokesman David Shuster announced earlier this month that the device will skip the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS update and will be updated to the Android 5.1 software. However, the update will be rolled out in Brazil at the moment.

According to Gospel Herald, there is no confirmation from the three major carriers in the United States whether the latest Android update will be heading to the Motorola anytime soon.

The Moto X 2014 was one of the first wave of devices that received the latest Android Lollipop operating system. Motorola also announced that the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update for the second generation of Moto X is already in the works.

Currently, the AT&T and US Cellular versions of Moto X 2014 are running with 5.0.2 version of Android Lollipop OS. Meanwhile, the Verizon version runs with an older version of the aforementioned OS.

In short, there is no official date yet as to when the top three US carriers will roll out the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.

Meanwhile, Christian Today reported that Google will roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS update soon. The OS update was supposed to fix some of the stubborn bugs and issues left unfixed by Android 5.1. The new update will reportedly fix the annoying memory loss as well as the bug that eats up the storage space. However, there is no official confirmation from Google yet as to when it will release the update as well as what updates it will bring.
