Google announced a Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 Android 5.1.1 update to fix the underlying problems from the recent Android 5.0 lollipop problems.
In March, Google told the world about its Android 5.1 update for the Nexus tablet and Nexus phones. These include the Google Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus 10.
However, the new Android update was already launched for the Nexus Player and others are now expecting the patch to arrive within the next few weeks.
Google Nexus 7 owners were complaining about several problems on the Android Lollipop update such as memory leaks, app crashes and random reboots. Google Nexus tablet owners are now demanding another update for Android 5.1 to fix the bugs, according to Gotta Be Mobile.
In what seems to be a troll move, Google posted an Android 5.1.1 update in the Android SDK on April Fools day. It then went on to appear in its Developer Portal, and now the search engine giant finally cleared the confusion, saying that there is indeed an update for Nexus tablet and phone users.
Google Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 owners will have to wait for the official OTA update on their devices. This can be seen on the system settings. However, Nexus devices running stock ROMs will be able to receive new Android update.
There are other ways in getting the Android 5.1.1 update ahead of the OTA launch for the Nexus tablet and Nexus phones, according to Android Geeks. Once an OTA update is rolled out for a certain device, it can be downloaded from Google's repository.
Experienced Nexus phone owners will want to flash the update on their device. Doing so will wipe all the phone data, including stored contacts, installed apps and saved accounts.
