China has been receiving a stepped-up effort from Google Play in exporting the country's locally developed applications to the Android-based app store's users, according to a China Business News report.
The assistance came despite Google Play's absence in the Chinese market. The popular app store is yet to enter the country officially, added the Shanghai-based journal.
Since Google announced its merchant support to China, the tech giant has established a team dedicated to helping Chinese app developers set foot on the international arena, according to Chris Yerga, head of Google Play Asia Pacific.
Yerga, who is also the vice president of the engineering department, further said that Google has long been stepping up its effort in terms of localization. The Google executive noted that the content for the site "developer.android.com" and its e-mail-based support service are now available in the Chinese language.
In November last year, Google stated that China's developers can now offer to its users free and paid applications through different means, such as subscriptions and in-application purchasing.
Local developers can receive revenues generated via Google Play through their Chinese bank accounts. Google said that the revenues will be paid in U.S. dollars through wire transfers.
According to Yerga, Google was able to provide revenue worth over $7 billion to developers across the globe in 2014. He also added that the previous year saw the robust growth in the number of China-based developers who register on Google's app store unit.
Some of China's prime game developers, such as Tap4Fun and Elex Technology, who registered with Google Play also received dramatic revenue growth.
Globally, 78 percent of smartphones and 62 percent of tablets use the Android operating system, official data from Google said.
