The last time Instagram released additional photo filters was in December 2014. Instagram released five new filters on that update. These filters were Slumber, Ludwig, Perpetua, Crema and Aden.

According to its official Instagram blog site, Lark desaturates the color red while increasing the colors blue and green which in turn adds more life to landscape photos. Juno adds tint to cooler tones green while warmer tones pop and white color glows which gives out a vibrant photo of people. Finally, Reyes give photos a dusty and vintage look.

The latest Instagram update will also allow its users to use emoji as hashtags. Aside from emoji, smiley faces, cats as well as waves can also be used. Users can simply type "#" and add the emoji that they want to use.

A statement from Instagram said that the added support for emoji in hashtags, searches as well as photo-tagging will help in improving photo discoverability.

The latest version of Instagram for iOS devices is 6.11.0 and is already available for download in Apple's App Store. Instagram version 6.20.0 is already out for all devices running in the Android platform and can be downloaded in Google Play. For users who has pre-existing Instagram apps on their devices, they can just simply update the app.
