Film helmer Whedon revealed his plans to include "Spider-Man" in his recent "Avengers" film at the Empire Film Podcast, where he attended as a guest, according to Cinema Blend.

Whedon was asked about the new roster for the "Avengers" at the conclusion of the film and he added two more characters.

The first one was Captain Marvel, who will have her own solo movie. "Captain Marvel" will mark the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as her film is the first female-led movie. Whedon also revealed "Spider-Man" as the second hero he wanted to include in the new Avengers line-up.

While Whedon really wanted "Spider-Man" to be part of the "Avengers" franchise, the rights issues served as obstacles in unifying the popular web-slinger with the mightiest heroes in a single film.

It was also reported back in 2012 that there had been talks between Marvel and Sony with regard to the feasibility of having the OsCorp Tower in the New York City skyline Marvel's cinematic universe, as per Latino Review. However, it was not actualized.

Spider-Man is also set to have his debut in Joe and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War," which centers on the superhero registration act.

Asa Butterfield has been previously reported as the top choice to play the iconic web-slinger while "Cabin in the Woods" film helmer Drew Goddard is set to pilot "Spider-Man."

"Age of Ultron" stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Scarlet Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Oscar Isaac.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is still showing in cinemas while "Captain America: Civil War" is set to hit the theaters on May 6, 2016. The solo "Spider-Man" film is to premiere in theaters on July 28, 2017.
