Microsoft Surface 3 tablet is now available on sale in the US today and the tech giant is offering consumers a great trade-in deal. The company offers up to $150 trade-in price for previous Surface RT tablets.

Microsoft offers up to $150 to Surface 2 owners. It is hard to get the same price for the first generation of the Surface RT tablet. However, the trade-in offer is available only in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico for a limited time, according to The Verge. Microsoft has not specified until when the deal is offered. The report added that Microsoft will determine and trade-in value based on accessories and working condition and then email a promo code once the device has been sent in.

One of the main reasons for the trade-in deal is because the Surface RT and Surface 2 will not be upgraded to the upcoming Windows 10. Thus, users are given the option to upgrade to the latest Surface 3 tablet.

While Surface 3 tablet is inferior to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3, the slate packs decent specs and features. According to Maine News Online, the new Surface 3 tablet is a thinner and lighter version of the hybrid device - Surface Pro 3. The tablet comes with a 10.8-inch screen display with a Full HD (1920x1280) pixel resolution and is powered by the new Intel Atom processor dubbed as Cherry Trail. Other features of the device are: 8-megapixel rear camera; a 3.5-megapixel front camera; a full-size USB 3.0 port; a mini-DisplayPort; a micro-USB 2.0 slot; and 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

DigiTimes reported that Microsoft is aiming to ship 4 million units of the tablet this year.
