"I know that a lot of people have been asking about the status of the Moto X (1st Gen) Lollipop upgrade. I can see the frustration and in some cases the anger about how long it has taken to get the upgrade deployed. It has been a struggle due to the lack of support from some of our partners but I am glad to announce that we are starting TestDrive in both the US and LatAm. If all goes well we should start full deployments in a few weeks." Motorola's Senior Director of Software Product Management David Schuster posted in his Google+ account.

Meanwhile, the second generation of Moto X or Moto X 2014 started receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update last week. The new software roll out began with a soak test in Brazil, but it is slowly reaching the US shores. Motorola also seeded that AT&T Android 5.1 Lollipop Release Notes.

Android 5.1 Lollipop OS will improve the stability and will provide better control over notifications. Moreover, the OS update will fix the bugs and issues left unfixed by previous versions of the firmware.
