It will still go by the same format as the first two seasons, but the TV show will take viewers deeper into Chinese cuisine and, in turn, the country itself. Apart from presenting Chinese food, the show will also shine the spotlight on the historical background of some of the dishes.

As for other plans, the third season will also showcase cuisines from other parts of the world.

"We will compare the cuisine at home and abroad to showcase Chinese food in a wider vision," shared Chen Xiaoqing.

Peru, Mexico, Spain, Iran, Canada and Italy are some of the countries that the director plans to take viewers to in the third season. According to Chen, these countries have close connections with Chinese food. The sweet potato, for instance, was discovered in South America.

"A Bite of China" first aired in May 2012 and has constantly received positive feedback from viewers and critics alike. Many viewers shared that the show evoked great memories about favorite foods during childhood. Others praised the show for highlighting the importance of the cuisine.

"When I was watching the first two seasons of 'A Bite of China,' I thought that Chinese food is so marvelous that we must record its influence on the world," said Cai Lan, who serves as the adviser to the documentary.

"A Bite of China" will begin filming in Sept. 2015. The series is scheduled to air in July next year.
