"The Big Bang Theory" fans were devastated to see what could have been Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) wonderful proposal to Amy (Mayim Bialik). However, because the former lost his focus during their make out session, the latter decided it was time to end their relationship for good.
With the upcoming ninth season of "The Big Bang Theory" on CBS, fans are wondering whether or not Sheldon's proposal could still take place. Some fans are also curious as to whether or not there is a chance for Sheldon and Amy to at least get back together.
Luckily, showrunner Steve Molaro recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter to weigh in on the onscreen couple's future.
According to Molaro, fans have been divided amongst Team Sheldon and Team Amy because just like him, they also understand what might have gone through both character's minds in terms of their relationship.
Despite not revealing any details about their possible reunion, Molaro hinted that Sheldon and Amy could potentially get back together because the former is just so fond of the latter, even if she is not necessarily aware of it.
"I do not know exactly what is going to happen but he is clearly fond of her. I do not think they are done speaking by any means. He is so fond of her, something is going to happen between them, I am sure," he said.
Meanwhile, Molaro also hinted on the future of Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) and Leonard's (Johnny Galecki) relationship, IBTimes.
According to him, the couple will continue to travel to Las Vegas, but whether or not a wedding will be set is something fans need to wait for next season.
"The Big Bang Theory" season 9 will return to CBS this coming fall.
