The superhero blockbuster “Avengers: Age of Ultron” dethroned the phenomenal car-racing action “Furious 7” as it climbed all the way up, topping the box-office charts in China after taking in $156.3 million in its first six days.

This studio statistic is closely in line with the figure released by media research group Entgroup which tallied to $154.63 million. The research outfit also showed that the "Avengers" sequel dominated screenings, as it gathered 23.83 million admissions from 494,148 screenings.

Currently, the Marvel superheroes film released by Disney seats at the eighth spot of the world's highest-grossing film of all time.

Meanwhile, another Hollywood title, "Chappie," claimed the second place in China's movie charts. The Neill Blomkamp film took in $3.46 million a full week after its release, adding to its $13.73 million gross from 92,125 screenings and 670,606 admissions.

Claiming the third spot is the Chinese drama "You Are My Sunshine," gathering $2.85 million for a cume of $55.31 million after a two-week-and-a-half period.

The drama stars the famous Hong Kong actress Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming, her real-life boyfriend, alongside Dong Dawei. The film had 552,081 admissions from 79,918 screenings.

The coming-of-age romance "The Left Ear," which serves as the directorial debut of Alec Su, came in fourth, pulling in another $2.96 million for a total of $76.86 million after 24 days.

"Furious 7," after dominating the box-office charts locally and globally, fell to the fifth spot, adding $1.49 million and bringing its gross income in China to a whopping $390.87 million.

The James Wan film, which includes the final on-screen performance of the late Paul Walker, is regarded as the most successful title in the world's second-biggest film market.

Rounding up the lower half of the top 10 films in the domestic charts are Cao Dawei's "The Beloved" (adding another $1.4 million), DreamWorks Animation's "Home" ($1.28 million), thriller "Helios" ($1.23 million), animation "Alibaba and the Thief" ($590,000), and another thriller "Death Trip" ($480,000).
