Tech giant Google recently announced that it will be launching a redesigned account page in order to provide its users with additional control for their privacy and security options.
Google did not exactly add any new features in its My Account page. The company simply redesigned the page in order to provide its users with simpler navigation and easy to use and understand configuration settings.
According to Gizmondo, Google's Privacy Checkup allows its user to check all the user-related information Google has piled up. Users are given the option to turn the feature on and off. Google also remind its users that if they choose to turn the feature off, they still need to clear their existing browsing history.
Google stores user browsing history in order to provide them with a more personalized experience when using Google services. However, allowing Google to access everything from location details to browsing history will give the company a complete and very detailed profile about a certain person up to a point that it might endanger the person's privacy.
With the added privacy configuration option from Google, users can now choose whether they want to share information to the company. These information includes name, phone numbers, Gmail account information, Google Drive files as well as video's search on YouTube.
Despite the frightening amount of personal data Google currently has at their disposal, the company promises that all these information are stored in ultra-secure data centers complete with security team and top of the line encryption in order to prevent snoopers and hackers to access these very sensitive data, according to LA Time.
Users concerned about their online privacy and security can head over to http://privacy.google.com to update their Google account as well as make changes that best suit their personal standards.
