"X-Men" cast member Ian McKellan recently slammed rumors that claimed he will be reprising his role as Magento in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In an interview with Digital Spy, McKellan said that the filming for "X-Men: Apocalypse" has already commenced and he is definitely not part of it. However, the veteran actor said that he was happy to be part of the previous films.

McKellan also explained why he thinks the "X-Men" franchise is unlike any of the other superhero films today. According to him, it was because the stories of the "X-Men" films could be dubbed as superior because they were always about something.

Additionally, McKellan said that the "X-Men" films are known for discussing social issues that are worth talking about beyond the confines of the cinemas.

During the same interview, McKellan also updated his fans on his current engagements. According to him, he just recently finished filming "Mr. Holmes" and he was also recently involved in filming a sitcom.

Meanwhile, according to iDigital Times, Michael Fassbender has been tapped to play Magneto on "X-Men: Apocalypse." In a previous interview, Fassbender expressed his excitement over his newest venture.

He also confirmed that he is only signed to star in three films, namely, "X-Men: First Class," "X-Men: Days of Future Past" and "X-Men: Apocalypse." After the release of the latter, he will no longer be involved in the franchise.

However, the actor said that he will be willing to sign on for more movies if he will be given the chance to do so in the future.
