Android 5.1 Lollipop updates have been confirmed for Moto E (1st Gen), Moto E (2nd Gen), Moto X (2013) and Moto X (2014). However, some smartphones such as the Moto G (1st Gen) and Moto G (2nd Gen) are not getting the update.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop update will roll out to Moto X (2013) in a few days, according to Motorola's product manager David Shuster.

Shuster said on Google+ that they have begun full soak testing again in the United States on the 5.1 Lollipop upgrade for their retail channels. If the data looks fine, they will move to full deployment in a week.
He further said that a full soak test was started in Canada and Brazil on June 10.

As of now, the Android 5.1 update for Moto X (2014) has been halted due to a bug that was found during testing.

Shuster said that they wanted to give an update on where they are with the Moto X (2014) soak testing. He further said that they ended up detecting a problem that they want to fix before moving to full deployment.

The Android 5.1 will come to Moto X (2014) by the June end or by mid-July, TechWorm reported.
It is not confirmed whether the Moto G (1st Gen) and Moto G (2nd Gen) is getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update.

It is unlikely that either one of those devices will get the future Android updates, GeekSnack reported.
Earlier, the software company Motorola released the Android 5.1.1 update for the Moto G (1st Gen) and Moto G (2nd Gen) in India. However, it is not known whether the company will update the Moto G series in other countries.

The mobile carrier Verizon has started rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the Moto E (2nd Gen). Customers have been getting their new firmware OTA in stages.

Motorola has release notes for Android Lollipop 5.1 on Moto E (1st Gen). However, the tech giant has not given an ETA regarding when the smartphone is getting updated. The Android 5.1 Lollipop is undergoing soak testing on the Moto E (1st Gen). There is no information on when the Android update will be ready. Moto E (1st gen) owners will have to wait for more information from Motorola.
