With Guillermo del Toro's horror film "Crimson Peak" hitting the big screen soon, the director has recently said that his upcoming film is much more than a haunted house film.
In his interview with Entertainment Weekly at the San Diego Comic-Con, del Toro said that the house in the film is a "rotten representation" of the family that has lived in it. The director also compared it to a cage and a killing jar used to slay butterflies. He also said that the house is a sinister trap.
While Del toro's take on the upcoming horror film combines elements from horror thriller films, including ," Jack Clayton's "The Innocents," Drew Goddard's "The Cabin In The Woods," Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining," and Robert Wise's "The Haunting," among others, the director's gothic touch on his upcoming film is what makes it different from others, as per Cinema Blend.
"Crimson Peak" centers on a young woman, a writer who scooped up by an enigmatic and unfamiliar person to a house located on top of a mountain. After she discovers that there is an evil that inhabits the house, she must find a way to escape from the sinister house.
The upcoming film stars Tom Hiddleston, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnamn, among others.
Along with del Toro directing the film, Matthew Robbins is on board to pen the film script. The film is produced by Maguy Cohen, Callum Greene, Jon Jashni, Thomas Tull, and Jillian Share.
Del Toro's "Crimson Peak" is slated to premiere on Oct. 16.
