With Tim Miller's "Deadpool" hitting the big screen next year, Ryan Reynolds revealed that the upcoming action adventure film will be his last movie in a superhero role.
In Reynolds' interview with Huffington Post during his promotion of his other film "Sefl/Less," the "Green Lantern" actor compared himself with becoming a Batman at home, wearing an unambiguously-sewn Bat pajamas. He added that after Miller's "Deadpool," he will no longer be playing any superhero roles anymore.
Reynolds also told Huffington Post that he is interested in making a "Deadpool" sequel, but this depends on the fans' feedback to the upcoming film. According to Cinema Blend, playing superheroes in films entails a big commitment; nonetheless, signing on for more than a single film may possibly materialize, depending on how the audience and the box office will embrace the film.
The actor has played some superhero roles in various films, such as Hal Jordan in Martin Campbell's "Green Lantern," Wilson in Gavin Hood's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," and Hannibal King in David S. Goyer's "Blade: Trinity."
Aside from Miller's "Deadpool," Reynolds will be seen by fans in Tarsem Singh's sci-fi thriller "Self/less" and Ariel Vromen's action crime drama "Criminal." The actor will also part of the voice cast in Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders' adventure comedy animated film "The Croods 2."
Along with Reynolds playing the Merc with the Mouth, "Deadpool" stars Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T.J. Miller, Gina Carano, Rachel Sheen, Brianna Hildebrand, and Andre Tricoteux, among others.
Miller's "Deadpool" is slated to premiere in theaters on Feb. 12, 2016.
