With the rise of Survey corps to power following the coronation of Historia Reiss as the ruler of the Walls, humanity is about to launch its counter-attack against the titans with the purpose of retaking what they lost in Wall Maria five years.

Meanwhile, Eren Yeager has already mastered the hardening ability of its Titan form, but he's not sure if it's enough to secure a bright future humanity is yearning for all this time.

Haunted by the memories of his father, Eren saw an image of a man appeared to have a close ties with his father. Thanks to Jean Kirstein's joke, Yeager found out that man was no other than their former chief trainer: Keith Shadis. So off they go to the instructor's office, seeking for answers that could unlock the mysteries behind the true nature of titans and his relationship with Eren's father.

While Shadis told Eren that he has no knowledge whatsoever about his father's research in the basement, he nevertheless narrated his account of the story that started off with his first meeting with a distraught man wandering outside Wall Maria. It was Eren's father, whom Shadis described as someone who didn't have any clue of the civilization living within the walls.

The instructor went on to tell the history of the 'Yeager' surname, how Grisha and Carla first met and the events right after the fall of Wall Maria - including the moments before Grisha injected the Titan serum to Eren and eventually allowed himself to be eaten by his own in the forest.

These are only few of the revelations Shadis dropped during his face-to-face talk with Eren. Although his story did not give the Survey Corps anything valuable before them embark into another expedition, it nevertheless raised more questions about the origin of Eren's father. Where did Grisha really come from? Did he belong to the group of so-called warriors Bertolt, Rainer Annie are working for? What is his connection to the Ape Titan shifter, who draws striking resemblance to him?
