The new FYI show "Seven Year Switch" has received numerous criticisms from viewers after airing its premiere episode. Dubbed as the new "Married at First Sight," it was said that the show was only destroying the sanctity of marriage and promoting adultery.
According to IB Times, FYI executives thinking of replacing "Married at First Sight" with "Seven Year Switch" after its experts were put under fire for failing to do a proper background check on the cast members.
In the "Six Months Later" episode, it was revealed that Ryan De Nino, who was married to Jessica Castro, suffered from anger management and gambling problems. Weeks after the season 2 finale aired, Castro filed a restraining order from her estranged husband claiming that he threatened to kill her and her family.
Following the controversy, the network producers decided to give the timeslot of "Married at First Sight" to new show "Seven Year Switch," in which long-term couples will exchange partners in an effort to bring back the spark in their relationship.
After airing its premiere episode on July 7, the reality show has reportedly received negative feedback from viewers. Rather than putting the couples in a social experiment, they claimed that they could have gone to counseling to address their problems. They added that going to bed with someone else will not make them appreciate their spouses more.
As reported by Christian Today, the coming episode will show the new couples try to get to know more about each other and get familiarize themselves with their new living quarters. They will also discuss their sleeping arrangements.
