According to Comic Book, Cairo is where the titular supervillain Apocalypse finds the disturbed mutant Storm and eventually recruits her as one of his Four Horsemen, along with Psylocke, Archangel, and Magneto, being the other three.

Apocalypse has roots in the ancient Egyptian civilization, which created strong links between him and the nations in North Africa and Middle East, according to Cinema Blend. With this knowledge, it is assumed that his rise in the early 1980s will lead to a worldwide destruction that includes Cairo, which is cradled in Egypt.

Oscar Isaac is set to play the role of the titular supervillain. Along with him, "X-Men: Apocalypse" also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Hardy, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Olivia Munn, Tye Sheridan, Lara Condor, Evan Peters, Rose Byrne, and Josh Helman, among others.

Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 27, 2016.
