According to Boston University's James Traniello, a professor of biology with expertise on the life and social behavior of ants, "Ant-Man" is a turning point for ants in cinema.

In an interview with the Boston University Today, the professor said he admired the way the Marvel movie portrayed the cooperation of the ants and humans.

Traniello agreed that the movie showcased that the ants are living in line with human interests. According to him, they are always portrayed as antagonists who want to destroy the humans in the movies. The professor gave his approval to the movie but he also commented on some scenes in the movie.

On the other hand, the professor did not agree with Michael Douglas dialogue in "Ant-Man," which goes, "Ants can do incredible things, but they need a leader."

According to Traniello, ants do not need a leader and the queen is not a leader but a giant ovary for laying eggs. He said that in the movies the ants are always guys but the male ants are just sperm containers and they die after mating.

In addition, the professor remarked that in overall the movie is good for the ants. Hoping for more stress on cooperation in nature and the vital role of ants in the ecosystem, he mentioned that science should have been emphasized a little in "Ant-Man."
