Director Bryan Singer has revealed the inspiration behind the atypical look of the titular supervillain played by Oscar Isaac in his upcoming film "X-Men: Apocalypse."
In the latest issue of Empire Magazine, Singer explained that his take on Apocalypse will be faithful to the character's image in the comics. He added that the titular villain will have a contrasting blend of a futuristic and ancient look in his upcoming film.
Apocalypse antiquated, yet ultramodern look in Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" will be in line with the director's previous posts on his official Instagram accounts, such as a photo of himself looking at the giant Anubis sculpture in the film's Egyptian set.
According to Cinema Blend, the titular supervillain's revolutionary-primordial look in Singer's upcoming film reflects the character's supreme range of abilities in the comics, which includes telekinesis, extraordinary strength, energy projection, and technology manipulation. Apocalypse can also change his size, just like what the Pym particles can do to Ant-Man.
"X-Men: Apocalypse" also stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Hugh Jackman, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Sophie Turner, Ben Hardy, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Munn, Lara Condor, Rose Byrne and Josh Helman, among others.
Patrick Stewart revealed that he will not be in Singer's upcoming film; but his co-star Ian McKellen will be. Stewart is playing the role of old Charles Xavier Professor X while McKellen is playing the role of Eric Lehnscherr/ Magneto.
Singer's "X-Men: Apocalypse" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 27, 2016.
