"The Hunger Games" actress Jena Malone's possible role in Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has been unveiled.

Malone is going to play the role of Barbara Gordon in Snyder's upcoming superhero film, according to Movie Pilot. In the comics, the character is the daughter of Commissioner James Gordon and is the civilian alter ego of Oracle and Batgirl.

The recent update is in contrast to previous rumors saying that Malone is playing an incarnation of a female Robin, who is based on the character in Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns." The said rumor subsided following the release of Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" trailer.

While there are still some speculations that Malone could appear as female Robin in a flashback in Snyder's film, new speculations may arise involving Malone as either Batgirl or Oracle, according to Cinema Blend.

Created in 1961 by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff, Batgirl is depicted as a librarian during the day and known as Batman's ally at night, along with Robin. She became paralyzed after The Joker shot her through the spine, which led to her confinement to a wheelchair and adopting her new identity as Oracle. With her computer expertise, she aids the Dark Knight by giving him information in the field.

Aside from Malone, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" stars Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, among others. Green Lantern is reported to be played by "Fast and Furious" actor Tyrese Gibson, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to hit theaters in United States on Mar. 25, 2016.
