While Josh Trank's "Fantastic Four" remake did not do as much as what previous Marvel films did in the big screen, 20th Century Fox is determined to do follow-up films for the franchise.

In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Domestic Distribution Chief Chris Aronson said that the studio is tied to the characters of the superhero film, along with what they can do. Aronson added that though the studio had a feeling of dissatisfaction, there is a lot to look forward in the franchise's future in Marvel's Cinematic Universe.

While Fox's chief seems to be self-assured with the potential of the superhero franchise, the studio is currently in the verge of making decisions about the future of the franchise and Marvel's Cinematic Universe, as per Cinema Blend. Fox can push a sequel to Trank's film or pursue a crossover with the X-Men. Also, the studio can give back the film rights to Marvel or create another film reboot.

With the "Fantastic Four's" dim performance in the box office, it has also been reported that a sequel to Tim Miller's upcoming "Deadpool" will replace the slot of the "Fantastic Four" sequel in 2017. But since, Fox expresses its firm devotion to the big family franchise, whether a sequel for "Fantastic Four" will be pushed or not is yet to be revealed.

Meanwhile, "Fantastic Four" stars Miles Teller, Jamie Bell, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, and Toby Kebbell, among others.

Trank's "Fantastic Four" is showing in theaters while the sequel is slated to premiere on June 9, 2017.
