Disney Channel's "Descendants" proved to be a hit on the televisions after gaining positive ratings and reviews. The musical fantasy achieved another milestone after its soundtrack topped the Billboard chart in the second week of August. Taylor Swift and British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran remain strong in the top five.
"Descendants" is a sequel to many iconic Disney stories. The film centers on the four teen offsprings of Disney's most celebrated villains. The teens are Carlos the son of Cruella de Vil, Jay the son of Jafar, Evie the daughter of the Evil Queen, and Mal the daughter of Maleficent.

Meanwhile, Future remained in Billboard's second spot with the song "D2ST."
Swift and Sheeran continue to strengthen their dominance in album sales this year. Swift's best-selling album of 2014 "1989" rose to the number three spot with sales of 34,800 units, after 40 weeks on the chart. Sheeran's "X" notched its 58th week on the Billboard 200 and ascended to fourth place.
Two new albums debuted in the top ten. Rocker Led Zeppelin's newly re-issued 1979 hit "In Through the Out Door" landed on the ninth spot while comedian Lil Dicky's "Professional Rapper," break though the chart in the seventh place.
The Billboard 200 chart tallies album sales, song sales and streaming activity. Ten songs or 1,500 streams is equivalent to one album.
On the Digital Songs chart, which tallies digital single downloads, British boy band One Direction's "Drag me Down" took the top spot with 350,000 downloads.
"Drag me Down" was a hot topic on its release after becoming Spotify's highest grossing song barely days after coming out.
"Can't Feel My Face" by Canadian R&B artist The Weekend place second in the digital charts, Reuters reported.
