Japanese game developer and publisher Capcom executives have announced that they are now working for the “Resident Evil 2” remake for a few weeks now, releasing some posts on their Facebook page.

Led by producer Yoshiaki "H" Hirabyashi, the remake project of the game is now under development at Capcom's R&D Division 1. Hirabyashi mentioned that fans of the game have been requesting the company for a remake but they have not been able to deliver until now. The producer guaranteed that R&D Division will provide feedback as much as possible and deliver a new and different gameplay for the players, according to IGN.

Currently, Hirabayashi said that they are trying to bring the second game in the “Resident Evil” series to modern consoles; however, the producer did not specify what platforms this remake will surface or exact date of release.

Capcom said that it will take tome before they could finish the “Resident Evil 2” remake. The game developer is already releasing a remake of “Resident Evil Zero” next year. “Resident Evil Zero,” which serves as a prequel to the events in "Resident Evil," is an HD remaster and not a remake.

The 1998's survival-horror masterpiece “Resident Evil 2” is considered as one of the best games in the series, and perhaps one of the best survival-horror video games era. Hirabyashi also expressed his gratitude to the fans for their feedback and support, saying that it was the fans that inspired the company to do a remake, Forbes reported.
