"Web Therapy" season 5 has been officially cancelled by Showtime. After four seasons, Lisa Kudrow will have to say goodbye to her quirky character Fiona Wallice.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Showtime Network president David Nevins announced at the recent TCA Summer Press Tour that "Web Therapy" would not be coming back on air. The series was created by Kudrow with partners Dan Roos and "Scandal's" Dan Bucatinsky.
The series, which premiered in July 2011, finished its fourth season early this year. The show may not have received stellar ratings but it was able to book several famous guests such as Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow and Conan O'Brien among others. Fellow "Friends" stars Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc also appeared in a few episodes.
In an interview with TV Line, Nevins revealed that there is no possibility that the producers would change their mind regarding the renewal. He said that the Kudrow series is done for good. The cancellation did not come as a surprise to many given that the season 4 finale episode only had 100,000 viewers on average.
Kudrow said that she has always been hesitant with the series' format, given that it was just two people talking on their computer screens. She, however, was intrigued with the premise and decided to give it a try.
"Web Therapy" may have ended but that does not mean that fans will see less of Kudrow. The actress stars in HBO's "The Comeback" as well as lends her voice to the Netflix series "Bojack Horeseman." She is also busy doing two documentaries, "Who Do You Think You Are" and "It Got Better."
