Since its announcement back in E3 2015, the backwards compatibility for previous Xbox 360 titles has been one of the hottest features of the Xbox One. And Microsoft appears to know how to ramp up the excitement among fans.
Already, there are a number of confirmed titles that will have the feature. But the company is looking to add more as early as this week. Xbox boss Phil Spencer announced that fans will be hearing from them soon enough on titles included in the Xbox One list of backwards compatible games, DualShockers reported.
This appears to be one of the most recent steps that Xbox has taken in order to satisfy fans' wish lists for titles to play on the Xbox One. Previously, it has featured a poll that asked fans which game they want to see most as a backwards compatible title on the Xbox One. Whether or not these actually make it to the list remains to be seen with the upcoming announcement.
Backwards compatibility, while obviously a hot item on the Xbox One, is currently not its only selling point above the PS4, something that Xbox executive Kudo Tsunoda firmly believes. Tsunoda noted that they are trying to execute a lot more in terms of features compared to other platforms like the PS4, GameIndustry International revealed.
"It's a really unique value that only we can offer," he said to the publication. "You still need very gamer-focused values, but there's lots of things you can do with our technology."
When the Xbox One was first introduced, it was supposed to be the one device that would offer both gaming and entertainment in people's living rooms. And given the recent streaming and integration between the Xbox One and Windows 10, this may be a closer possibility than before.
Tsunoda also emphasized yet again the company's goal of an "Xbox ecosystem," one that will allow players to play games wherever on whatever device is most convenient to them. Granted, the PS4 has its own Remote Play to boast about, its lack of plans for backwards compatibility feature appears to be one of the bigger features that its competitors are highlighting as of the moment.
