Warner Bros. Chief Executive Officer Kevin Tsujihara has talked about the huge decision to move the release date of Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" from July 17 to 2016.
In his interview with Indiewire, Tsujihara said that while the change in the film's release date was a challenging decision, as it would make a "hole" in their movie releases this year, it would serve as best for the franchise, for DC, and the film itself.
Tsujihara also said that he viewed the film several times, which made him feel assured that he made the right choice to make the movie better. For Warner Bros.' CEO, a getting a foundation on DC is pivotal for the studio.
Warner Bros. acknowledged this year's summer to Universal, according to Cinema Blend. While the latter studio made massive releases, such as "Jurassic Word," "Minions," and "Straight Outta Companion," Warner Bros.' decision of moving the Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" implies a degree of perseverance, which is atypical for a Hollywood studio.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is set to be the foundation of the titular superhero team Justice League. The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, and Ray Fisher as Cyborg, among others. The actor who will play the role of Green Lantern is yet to be confirmed.
Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is slated to hit theaters in United States on March 25, 2016.
