In what was an unexpected, but pleasant surprise for Kelly Clarkson fans attending her Los Angeles concert and the singer publicly announced onstage that she and husband Brandon Blackstock are expecting their second child.
While fans were elated with the news, it was not too long ago that the singer, 33, revealed in an interview that she is terrified of having another child for fear that the new born will be the "Yin" to daughter River Rose's "Yang," according to Music News.
Just before Clarkson made the announcement at the Staple's Centre, the star struggled with her emotions as she tried to introduce the song "Piece By Piece."
Failing to go on with it, Clarkson admitted the reasons behind her difficulty to fans and said this was not the way she planned to make the announcement, but gave in saying "I'm pregnant. I'm having a really hard time" before breaking down.
The song that Clarkson was attempting to sing was a tribute to her father as well as one for Blackstock for being a good father according to the publication.
The singer told People previously she wanted another child but only in a few years' time. She said she was frightened because her 14-month old toddler is "perfect" and feared that her next child will be her daughter's mischievous equivalent.
During the interview, she admitted the sweet nature of her first born is what made her question whether she was ready for another child.
The singer is step mother to Blackstock's daughter Savannah and son Seth from a previous marriage. While on stage, she continued to perform in between her emotional bouts and admitted that the couple had not announced the good news to their families as yet.
