It was previously reported that the 12-inch iPad Pro tablet will join the roster of Apple devices to be released on Sept. 9 alongside the iPhone 6S and iPad Air 3 and iPad Mini 4. However, Taiwanese publication Economic Daily reported that there will be no iPad Air 3 this year in order to focus on the 12.9-inch "iPad Pro", and to remove some pressure on Foxconn, Apple's main manufacturing partner, which is working on Apple's iPhone as well.

Meanwhile, iPad Pro is rumored to pack a 12.9 to 14 inches screen panel with 2,732 x 2,048 pixel resolution and the familiar 4:3 aspect ratio and 264 pixel density. According to Taiwanese media Tech News, Apple will reportedly tap Sharp and Samsung to supply the large 12.9 inch displays. iPad sales continue to decline prompting Apple to release a game changer this year and to re-establish iPad as a "must have" device. Other rumored features of iPad Pro are A9 processor, Type-C USB port, a special stylus, NFC, and Force Touch technology.

iPad Pro is also expected to simultaneously run with iOS and OS X El Capitan, according to Cult of Mac. This hinted that the tablet will be a hybrid device and will cater features of both a tablet and a notebook or laptop.
