The SRS-LSR100 "Handy TV speaker" is a new Sony product that is basically a remote control attached to a speaker's top. It wirelessly transmits audio from the television to the rechargeable unit. The new product's objective is to operate the television and listen to programs without the need to be in front of the home appliance's screen, such as when doing housework or enjoying late-night shows.
Wireless hardware allows the speaker to communicate with the TV, with the speaker containing a big volume dial on the right side that can adjust or mute the sound. The unit's battery life is about 16 hours, according to The Verge.
Sony's speaker-remote combo includes a charging cradle; USB, audio, and optical cable; and AC adapter. Free shipping is promised.
SRS-LSR100 also includes features that boost its portability. They include a handle and drip-proof shell that make it ideal for kitchens, dining rooms, or living rooms.
There are several applications for the new speaker. They include listening to the television while doing housework such as vacuuming, not disturbing household members late at night, or putting babies or toddlers to sleep, according to PC Mag.
Sony is launching its innovative speakers three months after unveiling its LED Light Bulb Speaker in Japan, which has a $200 price tag. A smartphone app is used to operate the Bluetooth speaker that twists into a light fixture. The bulb produces 360-lumens.
Sony's SRS-LSR100 will be launched in Japan on September 12. It will have a price point of around $167.
