"The Amazing Spider-Man" actor Andrew Garfield has talked about what could have happened if "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" materialized.
In his interview with Uproxx, Garfield said that he discussed his thoughts with "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" writer Alex Kurtzman and they came up to the idea that the sequel should begin from a "base level," which picks up on the events that follow the incidents in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."
For Garfield, "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" could have seen Peter Parker after Gwen Stacey's fate in the second film. He and Kurtzman conceptualized on where Parker could go, in a logical approach. The actor added that they he was really thrilled to dig deeper the brighter possibilities for Spider-Man.
Garfield was set to reprise his role as the iconic web-slinger until Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures decided to take Spider-Man in a new direction, as per Cinema Blend. While the actor had given a unique incarnation of the friendly neighborhood superhero, the studios want a younger actor to play the character, as the superhero will be presented as a highschooler.
Tom Holland is now the one who will don the iconic red and blue Spider-Man suit in a new "Spider-Man" film, with Jon Watts on the director's seat. While Holland will be seen by fans as Spider-Man in a solo film, he will debut as the iconic web-slinger in Joe Russo and Anthony Russo's "Captain America: Civil War." Previous reports said that Spider-Man will be taking on Captain America in the film.
For now, fans will be seeing Garfield in Martin Scorsese's historical drama "Silence" and Mel Gibson's drama film "Hacksaw Ridge." Meanwhile, Holland will be next seen in Brendan Muldowney's adventure film "Pilgrimage," Ron Howard's action adventure "In the Heart of the Sea," James Gray's action adventure "The Lost City of Z," and Rob Connolly's thriller film "Backcountry."
Directed by the Russos, "Captain America: Civil War" is slated to premiere in theaters in the United States on May 6, 2016 while Watts' "Spider-Man" is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
